The smell of the sea

Through the town I follow her footsteps
Winding through
The rain drenched streets
Down the hill
And trailing on to the beach

Over the mackerel sand
With ebb and flow
Her sole prints vanish into the waves
So elegant she moves
Through the spume and spray
It's unimaginable
That she was not meant to be here

With open eyes I feel her presence
