I've been sitting
Looking out of this window
For a year now
Watching myself

There have been good days
Some were hard
We shed a tear or two
It's amazing how
We've laughed together
When we're so far away
From each other
Thank you for popping in
Spending a little time
Though we're distant
We can feel connected
At your place or mine

Goodbye to friends
And we've made some new
People that
We've never met
But when all this is over

The sun is out, the sky is blue
You can feel the seasons changing
Spirits lifting as the clouds dissipate
And take flight
We can start to think
About how life is going to be
Will it stay the same
Or will we be making changes?
We've been inside
For far too long

Into the signs
That this'll soon be over
And we can open
Our arms right up
And greet the world
As the tail of winter
Starts to disappear
Behind the trees
And we're slowly unbound
From the shackles of lockdown
Start making plans
To see everyone
We've longed to see
Tentative first steps
Out into the light
